In 1955, the competition to develop and market solid body electric guitars that were both affordable and professionally built was heating up. Just three years earlier, Gibson had introduced the incredible Les Paul model with a $249.50 price tag (including case), yet increased competition was triggering the exploration into new directions that would eventually yield a wide variety of new and innovative Gibson products at various price points. Among those new products was the Les Paul Junior single cutaway model in 1955a stripped-down, affordable alternative to the more expensive Les Paul model. At $99.50or $149 with a Gibson amplifier bearing the same namethe Les Paul Junior single cutaway, with its lightweight slab mahogany body and single Gibson P-90 pickup, quickly became Gibsons most popular model, outselling the ES-125 by 142 units in 1955 and peaking at 2,959 units shipped in 1957. Here's something that made the right-handed players at the Zoo jealous: A '59 reissue Les Paul with an iced tea finish on its flamed maple top. The top on this one has excellent looking medium-sized flame figuring throughout the maple, and the book-matching cross-crosses the flames on each side, while interacting with the grain underneath to create unique patterns from any angle you view the guitar from. As always, the '59 neck shape is just about as comfortable as a guitar can get, and the Burstbucker humbuckers pump out classic Rock and Roll tone loud and clear. Minimize

Available for purchase is a Left Handed Les Paul Vintage Beige colored pickguard. It was handcrafted and shaped to capture the 1952-1958 ES-295 floral pickguards that graced the early Gold Tops. I scanned the floral design from my 1952 Gibson ES-295 pickguard, created a vinyl sticker that is attached to the underside of 1/8" clear acrylic with a rolled edge and airbrushed the vintage beige color. I reduced sticker to fit the smaller pickguard. I found that many Les Paul guitars vary in their pickup spacing. This one fit well on a Gibson 57' Gold Top Reissue.
