Pros: Sound, size, FM, price.
Cons: Armband.
The Bottom Line:
BUY IT!
Bought it at Circuit City on 2/19/05 for $149.95. Includes $20 rebate. IFP-795 (512 mb) must be purchased between 2/13 and 2/19/05 to qualify for rebate.
Awesome sound. 3D effect is great. There are several EQ settings, and you can set your own EQ.
Radio is cool. Nice to have presets available for you.
Love the ease of software. To add songs to the iRiver, you just need to connect it to your CPU, and drag your audio files to the software program.
The software installation and use is not hard if you have some decent computer knowledge. It is no different than installing anything else.
The "armband" does not fit my or 80% of most user's arms. I use the band for my wrist. Works great...especially when I am lifting weights or working out.
Earbuds are actually really good! Nice sound. Surprised by that, actually. Most devices have crappy headphones so you can buy better ones that they offer.
I went to amazon.com to order the car device so I can listen through my FM stereo (i have a cd player, but no cassette, so I had to use this device....cassette adapters are available.) I should get it soon...will let you know how it works.
I would give this a 9.5 out of 10. The armband included in the kit is weak...a .5 deduction. The device itself is a 11 out of 10.
iPod is overrated, in my opinion. If I need 2 billion hours of music, I'll start a radio station. Unless I pay $.99 per song. Then, I'll be too broke to start it.
If you want 8-17 hours of music (in my opinion, a lot) get the 512mb or the 1g. Plus, it will play most formats, and can be updated with new firmware.
