Pros: Very customizable, lots of features, clear and chic
Cons: battery life
The Bottom Line:
This player is a beautiful piece of technology, gorgeous screen and sound; excellent interface.
I invested in a 4 GB iRiver Clix 2 after using a Samsung 1 GB player for two years. So far, I've been very impressed with the clix. It's a small size that can fit in your pocket. It is black and very sleek; there is no writing on the front, only writing on the back which gives it a very chic look. It uses the clickable key technology that iriver is known for and has a simple, very learnable interface. Also,it has a beautiful clear, bright screen. iRiver says that the Clix should have 24 hours of battery life; I've found mine has about 15 at most.
It plays movies and MP3s, plays FM radio, has text scrolling and voice recording capabilities. It also has a lot of features. It comes with 4 flash games. The only downside of this is that you can't play the games while listening to music. You can upload your own font to use on the player. It comes with preset themes, but you can upload your own pictures as a background; also does picture slide show. It has an alarm clock and sleep timer. There is a "smart key" which can be set to a few different choices: shuffle, display orientation, home, stop/start/recording, play/pause, display on/off. Mine is set for display orientation which means that I can chose to view the player vertically or horizontally with the text to match.
When it's playing music, it displays song name, album name, and artist name. It also displays what song will be playing next at the bottom of the screen. It has a feature that you can create your own playlist "quick list" with music that is already on the player.
The price rivals that of the IPOD NANO at $200 from the iRiver website and a bit cheaper if ordered at amazon.com. However, the features you get with the Clix far surpass what you get with the NANO. Overall, the iRiver Clix has been the ideal mp3 player (I've always had a thing for features).
