At 11 years old while living in Tulsa, Barry's folks bought him his first guitar; a red hollow body Rickenbacker knock-off. Played it through a small Kalamazoo 12 inch speaker amp. He studied under a local country music artist, learning hits like "Heart of Gold", "Day Tripper" and "Boy Named Sue". After a couple of years the family moved to Florida.
