PYOBEN � GEL Antimicrobial Pet Medications for Skin Conditions Virbac DERMATOLOGY MEDICATED GEL FOR DOGS AND CATS ANTIMICROBIAL KERATOLYTIC FOLLICULAR FLUSHING (benzoyl peroxide) DESCRIPTION: Pyoben Gel is a topical water base preparation for use in treating superficial microbial infections. Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidizing agent which possesses antibacterial and keratolytic properties. Pyoben Gel contains 5% micronized benzoyl peroxide in a gel base containing water, propylene glycol, carbopol 940, disodium EDTA, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, amorphous silicon silicon dioxide. May also contain citric acid and/or sodium hydroxide. ACTION: Benzoyl peroxide is an antibacterial agent and causes drying and peeling. INDICATIONS: Pyoben Gel is indicated in dog and cat skin conditions responsive to topical, antimicrobial/ keratolytic agents. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any of the components in the formulation. PRECAUTIONS: For external use only on dogs and cats. Avoid contact with the eyes or on mucous membranes. If irritation develops, decrease frequency of use or discontinue use. *May bleach colored fabric. Contact dermatitis has been reported in humans but not in dogs. WARNING: Depending on the severity of the condition, concomitant systemic antibiotic therapy may be indicated. Keep out of reach of children. Wash hands after using. May bleach colored fabrics, clothing, or carpet. DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: Pyoben Gel should be applied to the affected areas once or twice daily after cleansing the area. HOW SUPPLIED: 30 gm plastic tube CAUTION: Federal Law (U.S.A.) restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. For animal use only. For topical use only. If condition persists or does not improve in 7 days, consult your veterinarian. Store at controlled room temperature (59�-86�F). *IMPORTANT: As benzoyl peroxide is a potent oxidizing agent, it will bleach many fabrics, i.e. carpet, upholstery, etc. Advise clients to keep pets away from all fabric during therapy.
