Iridite 14-2 is a chemical process that produces a protective chromate conversion film on aluminum and aluminum alloys. Application is by dip, brush, swab or spray. Coatings ranging from clear to dark yellow are produced. Darker coatings provide the greatest corrosion protection. The coating can be used as a final finish or can be used as an ideal base for primers, paints, lacquers or for bonding. This 2 pound container of Iridite 14-2 concentrated powder makes up to 42.7 gallons when mixed with water at a rate of 0.75 ounces per gallon of water. You can make a faster-acting solution by increasing the concentration to 1.25 ounces per gallon (makes 25.6 gallons). Iridite 14-2 develops a yellow coating. The color can be used to determine when the desired film thickness has been formed. As the solution becomes depleted with use, the time required to form the coating increases. Additional powder can be added to rejuvenate the solution. A yellow coating can be converted to a clear coating by immersing the part in hot water which will fade the color. Please note that the aluminum surface must be absolutely clean before applying Iridite 14-2. This is usually accomplished with an acid etch. You will know that the surface is sufficiently clean when water completely wets the surface. If water has any tendency to form beads, the surface has not been properly cleaned. Most stores that sell automotive painting supplies carry a chemical for etching aluminum such as PPG DX533 aluminum cleaner. Iridite 14-2 is qualified under Military Specification MIL-DTL-81706B, Class 1A, Form II, Method A, B, C; and under Class C of the same specification. The clear finish also qualifies under Class 3, Form II, Method C of the same specification. WARNING: Iridite 14-2 contains hazardous ingredients. The Material Data Safety Sheet (MSDS) must be read and fully understood before using this product. All appropriate safety measures must be used including the use of rubber or PVC coated gloves, rubber or PVC coated apron and goggles to prevent skin contact with chemicals. Depleted solution must be properly disposed. One method is to allow all the water to evaporate and then to mix the remaining residue with concrete to create a workshop weight (avoid any exposure to dust when mixing the concrete). The resulting concrete weight can come in handy when clamping parts for bonding. Note: Iridite is a trademark of MacDermid Incorporated. Alodine is a trademark of Henkel Technologies. Iridite and Alodine products produce similar protective coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys and are qualified under many of the same Military Specifications. Note: For industrial use only. This model has very large internal passages for very large flow capacity. It can be used in just about any application. The thermostat opens at 180 degrees F/82 degrees C +/-10 degrees F or +/-3 degrees C. We also offer Oil Thermostats with Female NPT Ports (Part No. 1228-Size), which have smaller internal passages but cost a bit less. After many years of ordering these racks we've found a common size that was frequently ordered and decided to have them made as a stocking item available for immediate delivery. The specifications for this rack are as follows: A=18" B=13" C=10" D=1.5" T=1/2-20 (see drawing). The rack travels 2.54 inches for each full revolution of the pinion, with 3 inches of total rack travel. 9/16x36 spline pinion, lightweight aluminum alloy housing, and steel rack bar. The AMB/MyLaps TranX260 Transponder is required by more and more racing clubs -- and with good reason! AMB transponders have proven their durability and accuracy in all kinds of racing from remote control cars and karts to CART, IRL, and IMSA. A unique identification number encoded in each transponder is transmitted to a receiving loop embedded in the track at the start/finish line. The rechargeable unit mounts to a quick-release bracket (included). A full 14 hour charge on the included 115VAC/12VDC charger will give 3 days of run time. Transponder Tips: Transponders must be mounted upright, no higher than 2 feet from the track surface. The line of sight to the track must be unobstructed by metal or carbon fiber panels or tubes. Fiberglass and other composites do not completely block the signal, but they will weaken it substantially. A weak signal may be missed by the receiving loop. Some clubs specify the transponder mounting location -- check your rule book. The transponder number is printed directly on the unit. Write your transponder number in your vehicle logbook and it will always be handy! A full 16-hour charge gives approximately 4 days of run time. The flashing LED indicates remaining run time.
