The Zire 72 Special Edition from Palm brings 32 MB of SDRAM and a 312 MHz processor that pushes its camera, Bluetooth software, RealOne Player and Note Pad along. There is a SD Memory Card slot for expandable memory if your media gets a bit too hefty for the onboard storage. The touch screen runs at a resolution of 320x320 and is a TFT active matrix that supports up to 64,000 colors.

Pros: Swiss army knife handheld! Bright screen. Perfect for the GTD method. Solid metal body.
Cons: Few. Heavy storage needs expansion card. Bluetooth synchronization slow but USB cable is provided.
I recently purchased a Palm Zire 72s and have nothing but GOOD to say about it. I haven't owned a handheld since the Palm III and have depended solely on my laptops (currently a 17 inch Apple PowerBook). I've implemented the Getting Things Done system for managing my time and wanted to have something with me when I didn't have my PowerBook. I've been using a (nearly) paperless office for some time and didn't want to end up lugging a paper notebook. So I reviewed the various handhelds available, their price versus features and Mac compatibility. I bought the 72s, a 1 gig expansion card, the Missing Sync, upgraded to Docs to Go Premium Edition, am trying out Life Balance (both Mac and Palm versions and will be buying at trial's end) and have been happy as can be. My systems are up and running perfectly. I can take a quick picture when I don't have my camera (very handy for collectors who want to do research on items they spot) and add a voice memo when needed. One satisfied customer!
