Worms Armageddon brings the humorously addictive gameplay of the very popular Worms series to the Nintendo 64 for the first time. The strategy-based gameplay is as unique as the premise. Commanding a team of worms, players wriggle and shoot through 30 missions and 14 training levels. Players take turns moving a worm warrior into position and then firing at the opposing team, using an arsenal of weapons ranging from mines and kamikaze attacks to the more traditional exploding sheep attack and banana bombs. Naturally, the commander who best combines strategic moves with creative attacks wins the worm war. Join the throngs of fans of this unique game series and you'll never look at a grinning, gun-toting earthworm in the same way again. Minimize

It's not the best choice, but you'll have fun anyway.

Pros: The same old worms gameplay. The interface wasnt' TOO bad.

Cons: Lack of everything the PC version had.

You have to admit, when you see the title of this game you think, "God, this game looks dumb". You'd think it would all be a joke about worms shooting weapons at other worms. And with 2d graphics it looks like the developer just wanted to sell something and not worry about the gameplay. Well that's partially right. To tell you the truth, this game just belonged on the PC. It's great to know that people are starting to recognize this game, but they aren't putting enough effort into it to make them realize it for what it's worth.

The basic premise of the games is that you're given a team of worms (you can customize their names, voices, flag, yadda yadda) and you want to eliminate the other team(s) with your zany arsenal of weapons. Have you ever played one of those games where you adjust the angle, and power from a tank or a castle or something so that you can shoot the enemy across the screen? It's a simplified version of that (and by all means better)

If there's a sign of the N64's lacking cartridge space, this is it. You can only choose from about 5 different voices of your characters (while the PC version gave you easily over 20), there are less weapons, a lot less animation (even the water waves look choppy)...almost everything has hit a snag along the way. The graphics are murky and blurry despite the 2D graphics (not much 3d at all), the sound is muffled, the control just doesn't work all that well!

But the game is fun as hell still. I've spent many an hour playing this game with my friends on the PC, cracking up the whole time. This is still there. You won't be laughing much on the missions, since your playing against the computer, but when your friend throws a banana bomb on you only to find it bounce back to a cluster of his people, you will probably be quite amused.

Clearly, with infogrames realizing how much fun this game is, they thought that they could make a ton of money if they port this to the N64. Sadly, they were in too much of a hurry and now this game is pointless to own. Get the PC version. It 'll probably run on your computer just fine, and you'll have just as much fun.
