Worms Armageddon brings the humorously addictive gameplay of the very popular Worms series to the Nintendo 64 for the first time. The strategy-based gameplay is as unique as the premise. Commanding a team of worms, players wriggle and shoot through 30 missions and 14 training levels. Players take turns moving a worm warrior into position and then firing at the opposing team, using an arsenal of weapons ranging from mines and kamikaze attacks to the more traditional exploding sheep attack and banana bombs. Naturally, the commander who best combines strategic moves with creative attacks wins the worm war. Worms is, in my opinion, the best darn game to come out since Tetris. And Worms: Armageddon, the third in the series, is no exception. The overall concept is fairly simple: two to four team of worms try to kill each other using weapons that range from handguns to grenades to nukes to cows. The gameplay is turn-based, and, although hard to get used to, very well thought out. You will have to use some tough thinking and adjust yourself to the landscape in order to survive this nuclear wormfest!
Although this game might not appeal to everyone, I loved it. But don't go buying it if you expect a super intense, gorey button-masher. Actually, Worms: Armageddon is a more humor-based game war game, certainly a type of game you don't see very often. Which is one of the reasons why almost anyone who plays it ends up sprawled on the floor laughing!
The missions are well designed, it has many modes and options (although unfortunately lacking the full arsenal of options in the PC version), and it's fun. Yes, Worms is certainly a must-have for any strategy fan, or, rather, anyone wanting some good fun.
