Not For Beginners But Works Well

Pros: Highly portable, can run on batteries, uses generic bobins, great inner works.
Cons: Tension a little difficult to get right, may be tedious and tempermental for a beginner.
Not a starter machine. I have sewn Halloween costumes and dresses on this little machine, I have even inserted zippers. It works just fine for me, but after some trials. This takes some guessing by an experienced sewer. You must stop and turn the fabric at the beginning and end to back tack, there is no reverse. This would not be a good "toy" for a young sewer, or for a beginner. Although I did buy them for my daughters, they are 12 and 22. The dresses my older daughter and I made with this cute little machine were displayed in the fabric store my daughter was working at the time. We both like this little machine.
