Fast, Stable, a little loud.

Pros: Fast, reliable.
Cons: 7200rpm = warm and noisy.
I acquired a used WD400BB from a friend. I hooked it up through an external USB-to-ATA interface. ext2fs long format with pattern testing as well as NTFS long format both worked without a single error.
I know that 7200RPM drives generally run hot and when sealed inside a normal PC without proper airflow can self-destruct (bad sectors keep coming back until finally the drive is unusable).
I didn't notice any major problems, but I left the drive in open air near other drives and a fan. Since I didn't test this drive packed in tightly, so YMMV.
