Last year I purchased my third Stir Crazy Popper, thinking my old one was on its last legs. Wrong. The new one is still in the box, and the old one just keeps on popping. The first one did not really wear out, I broke the top. I have been using this brand / style of popcorn popper for longer than I'd care to admit, at the risk of showing my age! The current unit that refuses to die is over ten years old, and has been used on a regular basis throughout the past ten plus years.

Call me cheap, but it seems crazy to pay and arm and a leg for microwave popcorn packets when you can buy several pounds of popcorn kernels for the same price. The Stir Crazy is very efficient, with the automatic stirring rod keeping the heat evenly distributed so you get most of the kernels popped. A little oil, add popcorn, plug in unit, and listen for the crescendo of popping. When the music dies, flip it over, eat from the bowl, and rinse out the popper bed. Repeat ad infinitum.

This appliance is the essence of durability and simplicity, and best of all it does exactly what it was designed to do and does it very well. No, it is not a stylish brushed chrome or some futuristic German design, it just works.
