What a Mess! DO NOT BUY!!!

Author's Rating: Rating: 1/5 stars

Pros: Looks good before you use it.

Cons: VERY difficult to clean, and clean you must, as batter oozes everywhere!

The Bottom Line:
This machine is sure to make a mess, and it is EXTREMELY difficult to clean.  It looks good until it become encrusted in dried batter.

Author's Review
I wish I had read the numerous reviews on this item before buying one.  They were all right on target.  I bought this model primarily because it supposedly makes six waffles, more than any other model I found.  The directions say to use 2 cups of batter for six waffles.  I discovered this to be roughly DOUBLE the amount actually needed.  The excess batter oozed out in all directions, filling the completely unnecessary groove that runs around the entire base of the machine.  It is a nightmare to clean this machine, particularly since it cannot be submerged in water.  I spent an hour using toothpicks to clean the dried batter out of the numerous nooks and crannies, just to get it clean enough to return to the store.  I tried several batches, which confirmed that it is virtually impossible to make six complete waffles without creating a mess of oozing batter.  The worst part is that the first place the batter oozes out is directly above the control knob and lights!  People have been making waffles for hundreds of years.  I can't believe Cuisinart has not figured out a way to make a more practical waffle iron.  It seems they went out of their way to make one that is UN-user friendly and a pain in the *** to clean.  Our last waffle iron lasted 20 years with no problems.  It had no bells and whistles, and I think we got it free for opening a checking account.  Next time, I will look for a similarly simple and inexpensive model.
