The Case of the Missing Battery

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: The ease of use, point and shoot, easy file transfer.

Cons: The very short Battery life, date/time stamp.

The Bottom Line:
This is a good camera for everyday use. The quality is good enough for taking photos of things you may want to sell on Ebay.

I wanted to get an entry level digital camera and didn't want to spend a lot of money. I happened to be at Target one day and saw this camera on sale. Since this was also going to a training exercise in digital photography for me, I bought it. I also bought a 128mb SD memory card so the camera would be able to hold around 200 pictures at a decent resolution setting. The included USB cable attached to my PC running Windows XP without needing the driver disc, and the photo transfers are very fast. There are a couple of things I find annoying, one is the very Short battery life, and the other is the confusing video functions. The battery life prompted me to buy an AC adapter for home use, especially when I transfer files. The video confusion occurs when you want to look at a picture that was just taken. If you do not exit twice, you wind up in video mode. Another issue may be with the date/time stamp. first, if you run out of battery, the date/time has to be reset. Second, if you use this stamp on a picture, it doesn't look quite right and tends to stand out.
Even with these minor problems I really like the camera. I have already taken it on several trips, and it usually stays in my car awaiting that next picture.
