Excellent choice for a bedroom/office set

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: great TV picture, well-designed remote, user-friendly menu system

Cons: limited 640x480-only resolution as VGA monitor

The Bottom Line:
Great choice for a secondary TV set - works well, easy to operate, doesn't take up a lot of room. Should be able to find second-hand and refurbs very cheaply.

Author's Review
I bought this in 2004 to replace a broken CRT set in my bedroom. I had owned Viewsonic computer monitors in the past, and trusted the Viewsonic brand name.

As a standard-definition television, this set did not disappoint me at all. The picture was sharp, clear, and easy to adjust through the simple-to-navigate menu system.

Although the audio is not stereophile-grade, the 2 large side-mounted speakers provide ample volume for a bedroom or home office. The set's audio jacks make it easy to connect it to more powerful speakers if you so choose.

The chassis is very attractive, too - a sleek silver bezel with chromed accents. You can choose to sit it on the included hinged stand, or it is possible to mount the set to a wall.

It's easy to connect VCR/DVD/video games - s-video, composite, and analog inputs are provided.

Although the N2000 has a VGA input, it is of limited use as a monitor because it has just one resolution - 640x480. Maybe OK for command-line operating systems, but not so good for Windows users!

The set still works great after 3 years. I just gave mine to my mother, whose bedroom CRT failed. She's a confirmed technophobe, and she adores the large, easy-to read remote and the bright, clear picture.
