Pros: No Ghosting Sturdy Design & Construction Bright Picture Fast/Easy Installation Great Product
Cons: None
The Bottom Line:
Buy this product. It has a low-cost, high-quality solution to you widescreen lcd needs. Whether your a hardcore gamer, or a business professional.
You get more. I was skeptical about this monitor because as a gamer and custom pc user I don't trust dell. Generally their products are substandard and overpriced. This is an exception. I bought this monitor because I had to have a 20 inch widescreen LCD for dvds and gaming.
My biggest reservation about ordering this, next to my dislike for dell, was response time. The dell claims a grey to grey response of 12 ms. Now I scoured the internet for review after review and each put me back to square one. Some praised this monitor and its older brother, the non-widescreen Dell 2001FP, as great products for every user. I read reviews about bad revisions of the monitor with uneven screens and heavy blacklight bleeding. I will suggest you go with revision A01 if possible as this is the one I have and I can confirm that such issues are not present.
Another fear I had, as this was my first jump to LCD from being a stubborn CRT user, was the possibility of dead pixels. I have run the screen plain white and plain black and have see no dead/stuck pixels at all.
The custom resolution of 1680x1050 is, as you must know, is very odd but from what I read, not unique. It seems to be a common resolution for laptops. I have found it difficult to find free wallpapers that I am happy with but this is strictly due to my pickiness.
The system pushing this is a custom built system consisting of a DFI LP UT NF3 Socket 754 mainboard, 512mb OCZ EL-PC4000, BFG 6800GT OC, athlon 64 3400 mobile overclocked on water to 2.5 ghz. I run CS:Source and HL2 on max settings at the custom resolution with over 100 FPS in intense firefights and an excess of 200fps in low action situations. The Dell 2005FPW takes all this like a champ and has no visible ghosting whatsoever. DVD and HD playback are quite enjoyable especially when utilizing widescreen to remove the dreaded black bars cause by a 16:9 source playing on the traditional 4:3 monitor. This monitor however has a ratio of 16:10 so there is an ever so small bar on the top and bottom if you dont stretch the image the extra bit.
I paid 710.00 via an ebay seller for overnight shipping. which was 120.00 over regular shipped cost. These generally go on ebay for the low 500s and ship for around 60 dollars. That is from reputable sellers who have already sold many of these monitors so you can't go wrong.
In summation, if you are undecided, due to all the conflicting forum posts and reviews, as to whether you should get this monitor. Get it. You will not regret it.
