The 4-cyl LE and SE have standard manual transmission. Automatic transmission is optional for those models and standard on the 4-cyl XLE and all V6 models. V6 SE and all XLE models have antilock 4-wheel disc brakes; ABS is optional for other Camrys. Also optional on all models are front side airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags, which can be combined with an available antiskid system on V6 models. The power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals are available only with automatic transmission as a $120 option. Other options include a navigation system with dashboard touch screen. Camrys SE model includes a firmer suspension and special trim. LE models join other Camrys with standard remote keyless entry and, at midyear, a power driver seat. LEs have 15-inch wheels, other models have 16s. The ES 300 from Toyotas luxury Lexus division shares Camrys basic design.

Practical, reliable, few drawbacks

Pros: Very reliable, reasonable gas mileage
Cons: Watch blind spot on right side mirror for medium-sized drivers
The Bottom Line:
Reliable transportation that is above-average in every other respect and good value for the money.
The 2003 Camry LE 4 cylinder is easy and comfortable to drive. This is my fifth Toyota and all have been practical, reliable, and long-lived (200,000 miles+)which is why I purchase Toyotas. They also get slightly above-average gas mileage relative to their competitors.
Compared to earlier edition Camry's, this car is taller and larger on the inside. It almost seems giant to medium sized drivers who were used to the smaller size of previous editions. It is now so quiet, one has to listen very carefully to hear the engine from the interior cabin.
The acceleration seems quick and much more powerful compared to the 92-96 editions, almost too much- the car can get away from you if you floor the acceleration.
There is a blind spot off the right mirror, perhaps due to the redesign, so be careful to turn your head and look in the side mirror before passing on the right.
The seats are comfortable but not quite as comfortable as earlier versions. Gas mileage is good at 32highway/23 city but higher is always better (the '05 model hits 34highway/24city with new 5 speed transmission.
Parts seem to be high Toyota quality which means no repairs at all for 100,000 miles if you do the maintenance and maybe a couple replacement parts between 100,000 and 200,000 miles.
