The 4-cyl LE and SE have standard manual transmission. Automatic transmission is optional for those models and standard on the 4-cyl XLE and all V6 models. V6 SE and all XLE models have antilock 4-wheel disc brakes; ABS is optional for other Camrys. Also optional on all models are front side airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags, which can be combined with an available antiskid system on V6 models. The power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals are available only with automatic transmission as a $120 option. Other options include a navigation system with dashboard touch screen. Camrys SE model includes a firmer suspension and special trim. LE models join other Camrys with standard remote keyless entry and, at midyear, a power driver seat. LEs have 15-inch wheels, other models have 16s. The ES 300 from Toyotas luxury Lexus division shares Camrys basic design. Minimize

For reliability and durability for a small family, definitely recommended.

Author's Review
I purchased my Toyota Camry LE new in 2003. Like many, I was choosing between the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord, and the Nissan Altima. In the end, the Camry won out in terms of ease of use and miles per gallon.

The Camry is a relatively standard sedan. Like many have mentioned, it isn't going to be winning any style awards anytime soon. That said, I found the instrument panel and speedometer area to be better laid out and easier to handle than the Accord or Altima. There is a tilt steering wheel standard. I have found, as a person with longer legs, that I have to lean forward to reach the radio area (which I don't have to do in smaller cars), but it's manageable.

As a "stereotypical" woman, I left the handling and performance issues to my husband. I rarely notice a difference in terms of handling and performance issues with cars; I pay more attention to "girly" things like roominess, cupholders, and storage.

There are four cupholders in the front, which, if you are like us, tend to hold more than cups. The center console has two compartments: a shallow compartment on the top, or you can pull that part up and there is a deep compartment underneath, along with a second lighter port (which comes in handy when we are charging two cell phones in the same car.) There is also a little slide out "drawer" on the driver's side for small things like change. There are good sized door pockets on both the passenger and driver's side.

The back seat is quite roomy. We purchased this car as we began adding to our family. Two car seats fit quite nicely in the back (we have one seat in the middle and one on the side) with room for an adult on the other side. Again, there are good sized door pockets on the sides in the back, as well as pockets on the backs of the seats.

The trunk is HUGE; I very rarely have any problem fitting bulky items back there. It holds more than you would expect. An added bonus is that you can fold the backseat down in two sections, if you need the extra storage space for a longer item. I also like the little plastic compartment in the trunk that holds two gallons of milk (or 2 liter bottles) perfectly.

The car is easy to clean, and has held up well, through two cross country trips, and two children. The gas mileage, especially on long trips, is absolutely fantastic. I have been VERY happy with my purchase.

I would definitely purchase another Toyota Camry in the future.
