Built exclusively in North America, the Toyota Corolla returns for the 1999 model year with few changes to the interior and exterior after receiving a complete redesign for the 1998 model year. This year, three Corolla trim levels are available, the base level VE, the mid-line CE and the top-of-the-line fully equipped LE. Standard safety features include daytime running lamps with an auto/off feature, dual airbags, child safety locks, seatbelt pretensioners and front and rear crumple zones. Side impact airbags, a child restraint seat (not available on VE model) and anti-lock brakes are offered as available options. The Corolla also comes standard with power steering, a remote fuel-filler door release and a stainless steel exhaust system.

Cons: Easily cosmetically damaged. Needs more features. Not a flashy car but affordable.
