My parents give this 1996 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L to me as my first car, after I graduated from High School in 2004. They bought it in 2003 for $5,000 cash. At that time, it had 90,000 miles. It was a base model, no power seats, CD player, sunroof, or ABS breaks, with plastic hub caps. But other than that, the previous owner pampered it like no other, and paint looks NEW when it was bought, engine runs smooth with no problems, drives and shifts like new. The cassette player and speakers that came with the car looks feels and sounds cheap. So I upgraded the whole thing with after market parts. As a teen ager, I don't think I demand anything more perfect than this car and a good sound system.

This car's 4 cylinder engine feels powerless. No matter how hard you press the throttle, there's little feeling of being pulled backwards, but I would consider this to be common among 4 cylinder cars. On the entire RPM band, engine pulls strongest from 3000-4500, but if you want good gas mileage, keeping rev under 2,500RMP at all times and drive under 65MPH. I got 28mile per gallon with light foot, and 22 mile per gallon when I really don't care. Steering feels solid at 65MPH and below, but begin to feel light at around 70.
Camry's engine is very well designed, it has very low engine noise, and is very stable too. Auto Transmission shifts smoothly - runs even smoother after changing transmission fluid. This car's handling standout during winter, drive through thick or thin snow or iced road with a plenty of grip, unless you floor the gas then you will spin tire, but you won't lose control. In Feb,2006, I tried to make a tight right turn at 35 mile per hour (too fast, I know) on semi wet road, it's too fast for the road surface and I spawn out, then I realized the problem with Front wheel drive cars is that when you lost control, you can't steer unlike RWD. Luckily I stopped in time and avoided collision with on coming traffic.

This car only needs oil change every 7000 miles or so. I changed transmission oil at 115,000 miles. I paid nothing else to maintain it. Insurance is cheap too, I(mm...my mom) pay $460 for better than minimum coverage at state farm every 6 months. Compare to most of my classmates this is a great price.
The seats are absolutely awesome, although they are cloth, but I did several long trips to downtown Chicago and went to the beaches near by(45min 1 way). There's even 1 day when all I did is just cruse around, and I did not feel any pain or sore. I actually would prefer cloth seats than leather, my mom's 94 Camry XLE have leather seats and they feels hard, and cold. Cloth seats warms up faster than leather and is much more comfortable.
Camry's overall visibility is great too. I drove a 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse before, and visibility in Camry is 1000 times better. I have also driven a 98 Honda civic ex, and its ride is bumpy, noisy, it has small cabin space with small and tight steering wheel. It feels cheaper than Camry in every aspect.

I have driven this car for more than two years now. I love how my car looks and I love how it rides. I keep it clean and got lots of compliments from everyone who rode in it.
