Toyotas sixth-generation pickup finally got a proper name of its own--Tacoma. The all-new model ha a driver-side airbag, and featured aggressive new styling, both inside and out. Propelling the new Tacoma were three engines--two 4-cylinders and a V6. The new engines included a 142-horsepower dual-overhead-cam 2.4-liter, a 150-horsepower dual-overhead-cam 2.7-liter, and a 190-horsepower dual-overhead cam 3.4-liter V6. The Tacoma also rode on a redesigned chassis and suspension and came with rack-and-pinion steering in place of the previous recirculating ball system. Also, 4-wheel ABS was now optional on all Tacoma models. The 4WD models were visually differentiated from 2WD models by a distinct grille treatment and an elevated chassis.

The Bottom Line:
A very dependable well made truck.
I bought my truck new in 95 and put on 271,000 miles already and still going great, has never leaked oil changed the clutch once and exhaust once. I am in the service business and use this to drive all over the LA area very dependable and great gas mileage. I have the back end filled with tools and equipment and it handles very well with the weight, without it that is a different story to light and bouncy. As I right this I had just come back from the dealership and drove home a 2003 extra cab SR5 model talk about improvements VERY NICE and I am giving my 95 Tacoma to a family member for 500.00 what a deal for a great running truck. For any of you thinking of buying a Tacoma take it from me a now two time owner of one BUY IT, it's been the best little truck I have ever owned.
