Toyotas sixth-generation pickup finally got a proper name of its own--Tacoma. The all-new model ha a driver-side airbag, and featured aggressive new styling, both inside and out. Propelling the new Tacoma were three engines--two 4-cylinders and a V6. The new engines included a 142-horsepower dual-overhead-cam 2.4-liter, a 150-horsepower dual-overhead-cam 2.7-liter, and a 190-horsepower dual-overhead cam 3.4-liter V6. The Tacoma also rode on a redesigned chassis and suspension and came with rack-and-pinion steering in place of the previous recirculating ball system. Also, 4-wheel ABS was now optional on all Tacoma models. The 4WD models were visually differentiated from 2WD models by a distinct grille treatment and an elevated chassis. Minimize

Has Been A Great Truck For Me

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: I've been hard on it and its been nothing but reliable.

Cons: It lacks much power going up long hills, especially with passengers.

Ease of Loading: 5

The Bottom Line:
This is one Model/Make that has gained my complete confidence, I've put hard miles on it and its basically bulletproof.

Author's Review
This has been the best vehicle both my wife and I have ever owned. Yes it can feel like a sedan with a truck bed attached when it comes to power. However, the most important factor, reliable, this truck lacks nothing. If your looking for something that you can haul the occasional load in, and get a little more clearance than a car without having to settle for 17 miles to the gallon this is perfect for you. It has actually become my commuter vehicle. I've been hard on it in the sense that its had thousands of miles on in on rough country roads in nevada. I purchased it with about 80k in 2004 and have put about 55k on it since then. Most of those miles have been in trips of 350-700 miles each way. It has never once left me stranded. I know it won't run forever but it has been so reliable I know I'm gonna be shocked when it doesn't start one day. The only problem I ever developed was a stick throttle position sensor. And all it took then was a quick spray of electrical cleaner and the problem was gone. I do my own maintenence religiously on it and as long as you do that it will treat you right.
