A Lot of BAM for the Buck!!!

Pros: Price, size, functionality, read multiple formats.
Cons: Um, well it loses your place when you stop the unit during playback.
The Bottom Line:
It's worth the money! It has a sleek design, and it does a lot compared to some more expensive models.
This is a lot of DVD player for $50.00. Much to my dismay, I had to replace my old Mitsubishi DVD player. So after reading reviews and tinkering around at local electronic stores, I decided to try the Toshiba.
Like other reviewers have noted, this puppy is very thin and takes up very little space. It does all of the latest CD, MP3, and recorded CD & DVD playback. The playback quality is more than I expected for the price. I even took this to a buddys house and we played it back on his high-flouting plasma, the play back was great.
I noticed a few complaints on other review sites, in case youre doing research Ill list a few issues you may or may not have with this unit.
Yes, the remote is small, almost annoyingly too short for my big hands. But I have a Toshiba TV, and bam the TV remote (much larger) operates the DVD player just fine. I didnt even have to program it. However, I have to go back to the DVD remote for more complex programming and navigation tasks.
The player does not display time information while DVDs are being played. The display on this unit will only show the section number of your DVD. To view detailed time information, you will have to load the appropriate menu on your TV screen. Not a big deal if you have your remote handy, but it would have been a nice to have this info in view at all times.
Lastly, and my biggest con with the unit, is that it does NOT save your place if you stop the unit during playback. My Mitsubishi, would load a menu giving you the option of resuming playback or to select menu to return to the beginning of the DVD. I miss this function greatly. So, if you need to stop playback you may want to click the remote and note the time for the current view. The good thing is that when you resume play, you can pull up the appropriate menu, and key in the time code. The DVD player will then load to the desired section.
All in all, this is still a nifty little player for the price. I recommend it especially to those with the Toshiba TVs.
