Beware Of Disk Drive
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Fast speed. Good memory. Great price.
Cons: Overheating. Stuck disks in the slot above the disk drive.
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this laptop due to the overheating problem and the potential disk jam problem.
I bought this laptop four years ago because it was on sale at Best Buy for $599. For the most part, it worked fine for my word processing needs.
A few months after I brought it home, though, it lost its modem capabilities. After that, the keys stuck for no reason because I did not spill anything on the keyboard. The safe mode and system restore stopped working.
I closed the disk drive, and the disk jammed itself into the slot above the disk drive. This happened several times. I was able to retrieve it until it jammed itself in so far that I could no longer pull it out.
The laptop always overheated. I tried fans and cooling pads, but they did not work because the laptop would shut down in the middle of my work session. I lost many documents due to the overheating problem.
I would not recommend this model because after three years, it just started having so many problems that I had to reformat the hard drive with the disks that came with the laptop. I did this several times, and it worked fine. Then all of a sudden the manufacturers disks stopped working just after the warranty expired.
