Toshiba introduces the SD-P1200, the first portable DVD player in a fashionably-styled, "sure-grip" design in an eye popping red color. The ergonomically designed player features a cabinet design with a faux rubberized texture and a 7" widescreen TFT LCD. For added portability, the full-featured model offers a 3.5 hour Lithium Ion battery and a credit card sized remote control. Additional features include multi-disc compatibility and a JPEG Viewer.

Mixed opinion about this player

Pros: Great picture, 2 headphone jacks, sealed buttons, good cable connectivity options
Cons: Audio CD playback problems, bad battery at purchase, remote control might break
The Bottom Line:
Buy a different player. I'm positive that other manufacturers have better quality control standards.
I bought this DVD player from the PX in Baghdad, Iraq as they were carrying it at an attractive price ($399). I read in the instructions to charge the battery before using the player with the battery, so I did. I came back about 4 hours later only to discover that the battery wasn't even charged at all! (The player DID play while plugged into a socket, however.) So, I waited for my next opportunity to return the DVD player and demand an exchange, and when I went back to that PX, I requested that I be able to exchange for a different brand. That wasn't possible, so they said, so I demanded a new battery. (Oh, and by the time I had finally gotten to go to that PX, the remote control had stopped working, too.) The PX people did get me both a new battery and a new remote control, both of which are STILL WORKING 6 months later. So, months went by with no problem with both viewing DVD's and listening to CD's. I received some CD's in a care package recently, and I noticed that the DVD player unexpectedly cuts-out while playing the last 2 tracks of those CD's. The silence lasts for about 2-3 seconds, and then the sounds returns VERY LOUDLY, distorting my headphones and causing wild volume fluctuations. After trying my new CD's out on another friend's CD player, I noticed NONE of the problems that I mentioned above. Then, I decided to listen to ALL of my CD's critically. The DVD player fluctuates the volume uncontrollably over the entire course of every CD, and the last 2 tracks play with intermittent, random breaks in the sound followed by a loud return of the sound. The player hasn't experienced any bumps, and I am adamant about using Endust for Electronics to keep dust out of the player. I have a VERY CLEAN player. Now, given the CD audio problems, the DVD function works flawlassly. The picture looks great, and the onboard speakers are terrible.
So, I wouldn't recommend this player given that it doesn't work properly as a WHOLE PACKAGE. Toshiba's quality control is obviously LACKING seeing that most of the reviews are mentioning battery charging issues. However, my experience with playing movies has bee great, and my main gripe now is with the Audio CD playback.
