A Difficult Life, A Challenging Story

Pros: Characters, writing, ability to drag the reader into the story

Cons: The ability to drag the reader into a very depressing and unusual story

Bottom Line:

Pros: excellent (on occasion, lyrical) writing, superb characterization, very engaging protagonist

Cons: unremitting progression of unfortunate events may be too depressing for some; the ending

Bottom Line:
