THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is a magical phenomenon unlike anything ever before seen onscreen. Borrowing largely from cinema's horror conventions, the film begins as an innocent young couple is stranded at the home of a mad scientist who is building the perfect man. The castle is filled with a most bizarre group of characters who worship their master, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played magnificently by the fabulously sexy Tim Curry, in leather jacket, pearls, fishnet stockings, and heavy makeup. Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are forced to examine their own sexuality as the voluptuous doctor releases the hidden desires in each of them.

Based on the stage musical by Richard O'Brien (who also appears in the film as Riff Raff), the film comes alive with unforgettable song-and-dance numbers that have come to represent the sexual liberation of the 1970s. The outstanding costuming and makeup, the terrific acting by a group of relative unknowns (Curry, O'Brien, Bostwick, Sarandon, Nell Ca...

~Let's Do The Time Warp AGAIN!~
| Author's Rating: |
|
Pros: Great plot...Never ending fun. A absolute cult classic!
Cons: Maybe a little too explicit for the young or un-humorous!;)
The Bottom Line:
This is a must have for film fans. If you love cult films or if you love Tim Curry, You NEED this!
~How I heard about this movie~
I saw this movie for the first time YEARS ago. My memory was sparked when I saw it on tv in 2002 so I went out and bought it IMMEDIATELY! I got it home and I watch it probably once a month. It's one of those great movies that just never get's old. It's a timeless comedy. But it takes someone with a special sense of humor to truely enjoy this movie.
~Plot of the movie...in MY words~
The movie starts with this lovely newly married couple (Janet and Brad) who live in Denton, Ohio. The end up getting lost in the rain and come across a castle. They come to find out it belongs to Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite who is holding the annual convention of visitors from the planet Transsexual. Sounds crazy huh?! Well...it is. But that's the point.
Later in the movie...Dr. Frank-N-Furter decides to show off his newest creation...a buff tan blonde man by the name of Rocky Horror. Of course...The Doctor made him for his own sexual pleasure. But poor Rocky is afraid of him and rejects him at all of his advances.
Then Dr. Frank-N-Furter announces that he is returning to the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. Some people end up not being happy about this and end up making some plans of their own. *wink*
There's alot of singing and dancing in between all of this but this is just the basics you need to know to understand what the movie is about.
~My thoughts on the movie~
This movie is a laugh out loud...holding your stomach laughing movie. But it's not all fun and games...it's a little bit sexual also. Maybe too sexual for some. This was also Susan Sarandan's first movie!!! So if you are a fan of her's...you'll love this.
I think this movie is a MUST in every house. lol! It's not a home until you bring The Rocky Horror Picture Show into your house! ;)
Some would say this movie is sick, twisted and demented and well...it is. But who says that there's anything wrong with that? I find LOTS of things sick and twisted...Like the news...but we can't help that now can we?!
This is definetly a CULT CLASSIC in every sense of the word. It's so original and unique. No one could ever re-do this movie. It's not do-able! It was just done so perfectly that there is nothing to be improved upon.
Tim Curry is WONDERFUL as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. But I hear talks that he's kinda ashamed of this movie. Which blows my mind because his performance is absolutely flawless in this film. Plus he's gorgeous in red lipstick!;)

~Grade I give this film~
A++++++++
This is such an excellent movie. The subject matter is so interesting...especially since it was released on film in 1975! But this movie may not be good for anyone under 18...it's VERY explicit! But...Everyone should have this. Your movie collection is not complete without this movie. Buy it!
