When I think of those wonderful holiday movies, a few classics come to mind...Miracle of 34th, A Christmas Story, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and many other wonderfully delightful movies that many people can recite the script on demand. After seeing The Ref, I had to add it to my list of "movies to watch for the holidays".
The movie is about this guy, Gus (played by Dennis Leary) who is a burglar by trade. He tries to rob the wrong house and ends up trying to flee an area that has extensive searches for him. He ends up with a family that has so many problems that his presence is a minor annoyance in their life.
After a little while, he not only has to deal with the family he stumbled upon, but the rest of their merry bunch...a group of people enough to send someone to a mental hospital.
As the movie progresses, the first part of the family finds a place in their heart for Gus and come up with ways to help him escape.
I must say that this demented tale is one that made me laugh and see the hoildays as hell for everyone in their own way. The cast of the movie was superb. I love everything I have seen with Dennis Leary and most things with Kevin Spacey. The story line was unique and entertaining.
Holiday fun!
