The goal of The New Tetris is to collect as many lines as possible. You clear lines by completely filling horizontal lines with puzzle pieces that drop from the top of the screen. You can rotate 'em and move 'em left and right to drop 'em in place. As the number of lines you have collected increases, pieces drop faster, so watch out! When your piece-pile stacks to the top of the screen, your career as a Tetris tycoon comes to an abrupt halt. If you're a Tetris fan, The New Tetris will take your obsession to a whole new level!

and I am a Tetris addict. I just love this game. I have not tried the four player option but I have played 1 and 2 players versions. Although, I am having a hard time finding someone to play with me because I have gotten good.
The pieces are easy to move--just like the old version. The object of this game is to clear enough lines to build a natural wonder/piece of architechure. For example, when you build enough lines you have completed one of the Egyptian pyramids. The you get to go to the next level which requires more lines.
The music on this has a real flair. If you are working on the pyramid, you get Egyptian music. The music is related to the building you are working on.
Even when you think you have the game mastered, you are still sucked in by the challenge. The expert level is tough and the pieces come down fast.
One of the ways to clear more lines is to build super squares. To do this, you need to fit four pieces into a square. If you use four random pieces, you get a gray/silver square that gets you more lines cleared. If you use 4 of the same piece, you get a gold square for even more lines.
I knew I was an addict when my son asked if he could have a turn playing Nintendo. This is a great game.
