The goal of The New Tetris is to collect as many lines as possible. You clear lines by completely filling horizontal lines with puzzle pieces that drop from the top of the screen. You can rotate 'em and move 'em left and right to drop 'em in place. As the number of lines you have collected increases, pieces drop faster, so watch out! When your piece-pile stacks to the top of the screen, your career as a Tetris tycoon comes to an abrupt halt. If you're a Tetris fan, The New Tetris will take your obsession to a whole new level!

The New Tetris is the only N64 game i truly enjoy playing. I've played a good variety of the games Nintendo has come out with for their N64 and i just can't get the hang of them. A friend of mine has about 22 N64 games and i just can't get the hang of them, not because i'm a bad player but because the angles and dimensions confuse me way too much. I just wanted to go home and play my old Nintendo. I'm good at that.
Nintendo has finally given me a reason to buy their system. That same friend rented The New Tetris and I fell in love with it. It's not much different from the first. You still have to move the shapes around in order to clear the screen. It's the new multi-player action that makes you want this one.
With the ability to have up to 4 players competing against each other this game becomes really intense. No longer are you just trying to get a high score. Now you try to do what ever you can to sabotage the other player's games.
when in multi-player game mode there is a option to add debris. Meaning, whenever you clear a line on your game it adds a line of debris to the bottom everyone else game in a mixed up pattern that makes it difficult to clear. After someone has manages to clear a large amount of lines, everyone else's games become full of debris and they must clean it up quick by eliminating lines otherwise.. GAME OVER
This is a great game for all ages! For adults that think N64 games are too violent, for young children that are just learning the concept of video games, and for everyone in between.
