Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Fun for hours, learn new recipes

Cons: Wiimote doesn't always pick up your movements

The Bottom Line:
If you liked the DS version you will not be disappointed with this one! It's a lot of fun and you might even learn a new recipe or two!

I had this game for Nintendo DS and was extremely excited when I heard Wii was coming out with one. If you loved the DS version you are sure to love this one also. There are more recipes and the best feature is that now you can challenge a friend.

You might think what's so fun about a cooking game? Well it's more than that! You use the Wiimote to chop, dice, stir, bake, etc. There are lots of recipes that you begin with and after you complete each one you get to unlock many more.

It may sound easy but if fact it takes a little skill to get a gold medal. You cannot make any mistakes or else you will get a silver or bronze. If you do terrible you will get a try harder. Some of the techniques require you to pay close attention to detail. For example, when you put a cake in the oven you must make sure the temperature is correct and if you leave it in a little too long the cake is burnt to a crisp.

In the DS version you only had a stylus so you movements were limited. With the Wii you must have enough room to swing you arm side to side, forward, backward, make circles, pretend to turn a crank and many more.......

The best part of the Wii version is the actual cook off. You are able to play with a friend and challenge them to a friendly game. The only thing with the cook off is that the computer does not show you the movements. Instead you are suppose to cook on your own. So that means practice, practice, practice is essential is being a top chef!!!!

One of the problems I've encountered is that the sensor doesn't always pick up my movements. Once you get into a rhythm you are able to finish the task at hand with no problem. However if you try to go faster and move your arm wildly the sensor cannot pick up what you are doing so the best thing to do is move normally but at a natural rhythm. It takes practice but once you get the hang of it, its fairly easy.

I personally love this game and spent numerous hours on it but the next day I had to pay for having so much fun. My arm was sore. I guess Wii does hold up its end of the bargain and the games do give you a workout even when you are cooking!!!!!
