Fun Different Kind of Gamplay

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: Unique gameplay and good use of Wii controller capabilities

Cons: Does get repetitive and Mama's voice gets annoying

The Bottom Line:
Good game toe enjoy cooking without the mess, but certainly not worth paying full price for.

I found this game fun to play. I like making the different recipes and not having to clean up the kitchen afterwards or figuring out what to do with leftovers. I do however get hungry when playing this game. One time I played this with a seven year old and after we did the popcorn recipe he went and actually made a microwave bag of popcorn. Thus the recipes really can inspire you to try them in real life, although I must say the graphics do not really do much of the food justice as the graphics are pretty simplistic. The sounds of the game can also get annoying with the Mama character continuously praising you saying stuff like "Awesome," "Dat's Good," and Better Than Mama."

The game has different recipes from around the world and each step of the recipe is a different mini game. You use the Wii controller to do the different steps pretty close to realistically how you would do the actions to cook. For example, you move the Wii controller to knock the egg against the bowl in the same type of motion you would in real life. There are some crazy unrealistic things, though, such as in the hot dog recipe the hot dog comes falling from the top of the screen and you must try to catch it in the bun.

Overall this game can be a lot of fun, but it can also get quite repetitive with the different types of steps such as cutting vegetables being the same thing in a several recipes. It still offers some depth with a decent variety of recipes. It also has a multiplayer mode in which two players do the recipes at the same time and try to do it better and faster than each other and thus score the highest points in making the recipe. I got to give it to this game for at least being something different to do and a being a unique kind of sim game.
