Pros: Excellent design, picture quality, value
Cons: Weird remote.
Purchased this at CompUSA 21st anniversary sale for $699 after rebates.
The picture quality is excellent and varies according to the connection type. I have viewed the difference using Coaxial, Composite, Component, SVideo, Progressive, and DVI each optimized for a different type of broadcast. Choosing a connection type is a compromise between the available options. The Comcast 6412 has also been adjusted to output HD digital as 720p which is native resolution for the TV and standard TV outputs as 480p.
DVD's look fantastic and clear. As expected the analogue or normal digital channels suffer from some picture quality loss as the TV is definitely optimized for HDTV. Some other 1080i TV's suffered from a very blotchy normal NTSC tv image due to the image conversion. It appears that a conversion to 720p is more realistic and achievable.
I bought all my cables at www.provantage.com cables that were $120 @ CompUSA were $12 @ Provantage. Also, I bought my wall mount bracket at av-clearance an EBay shop again 25% of the price of CompUSA. CompUSA wanted $200 for a bracket that I ended up paying $30 shipped for.
