Beware the zoom

Pros: Bright, clean picture and really good sound. Great price!
Cons: Bad picture zoom. Image is stretched horizontally. Don't bother using the picture zoom.
I brought this TV home and loved the bright, crisp picture. The digital filter really does its job! Good fast display. Sound is excellent!
However, when watching a standard cable signal that has the letterbox ratio, I tried to use the zoom feature to use more of the screen. The zoom on the Syntax Olevia is flawed in that it zooms in but also stretches the picture horizontally--making people seem short and fat. It's noticable with faces.
I wrote to Syntax about it and they replied that it's just how it is and there's nothing you can do. I've seen other brands' TVs and their zooms work fine. Syntax really needs to fix this.
