The 2000 Suzuki Esteem sedan and wagon are available in three trim lines: GL, GLX and GLX+. Beginning with September production, a 1.8 liter 122 hp four cylinder DOHC engine is standard on all models. This1.8 liter DOHC engine replaces the less powerful 1.6 liter SOHC engine. Standard features also include air conditioning, power steering and an electronic AM/FM stereo/cassette system. Two new optional two-tone paint schemes are available on the GLX+ Wagon model: Deep Space Blue over Silky Silver or Polar White over Silky Silver. The GLX and GLX+ trim lines add upgraded upholstery, power windows and locks, keyless entry, a 60-40 folding rear bench seat, a tachometer, and larger, all-season radial tires on 15 silver alloy wheels.

Pros: Good looks, shiny paint, energetic engine that is stingy on gas.
Cons: No tilt wheel or factory cruise, cupholder doesn't hold up.
Bottom Line:
Suzuki has produced a very favorable option in the subcompact economy class with nice features not always offered and plenty of room for a tall driver. Add cruise control.
