Subaru redesigns its smallest car for 02, repositioning Impreza from an entry-level to a premium subcompact. Coupe models are dropped. Sedans now come in 165-hp 2.5RS and 227-hp turbo WRX versions. Wagons mirror that with 2.5TS and WRX models, and add an SUV-flavored Outback with the 165-hp engine. All have new styling, 4-cyl engines with horizontally opposed cylinders, and manual or optional automatic transmissions. WRXs are patterned after Subarus World Rally competition cars. All Imprezas come with all-wheel drive, ABS, CD player, and power windows/locks. Sedans have wider front bodywork. WRXs include a sport suspension, an aluminum hood with functional scoop, and special interior trim and seats. Minimize

"We need milk. Be back in ten, dear!"
Pros: Acceleration; composure; quiet, at any speed; AWD handling; civilised; every other WRX driver waves
Cons: Gas mileage; gets too much attention from local racer idiots
An absolute joy to drive. Excellent value. Buy one. You too can make up lame excuses to take it out for a spin just one more time! Read More at Epinions.com

Best car out there for the money!!!!!!!!
Pros: Very hot body, fast, rated one of the best cars in the nation for safety.
Cons: It's not the smoothest car in the world but other than that it is flawless.
Overall I would say that this is the most diverse car that the common man can get without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars. Read More at Epinions.com

The little giant that could; what a package for less than $23K
Pros: Fast, great traction & handling, fast, distinctive, wonderful in snow and rain. True giant killer.
Cons: Fuel economy, smallish size, weak paint.
If you enjoy smiling a lot and blowing off cars that cost more than twice as much as you car, stick with the WRX. Read More at Epinions.com

2.5TS wagon: I love this car! (Updated)
Pros: handling, reliability, Subaru AWD
Cons: road noise, weak AC and brakes
This is a car for people who appreciate road feel and drive quality. You pay for Subaru's solid engine and chassis, not amenities. Read More at Epinions.com
