Pros: Many novel ideas

I bought the square foot gardener 4 or 5 years ago. The first year I tried to follow the books instructions to the letter , but soon learned this is not an ideal world. I use many of Mel's concepts, but don't agree with the 100% organic approach. The book is well written and easy to use and the index is well organized for quick reference. The photos and illustrations in the book are both helpful and entertaining. I believe the book was written for those who are avid gardeners and spend a lot of time in the garden. I'm a hobby gardener and enjoyed the book and I am sure I got my moneys worth, because of the dirty finger prints and folded corners found throughout the book. The book takes a new approach to gardening and all or parts of it can be helpful, depending upon the reader.
