This is a great book for the beginning and more advanced gardener alike. I bought it for myself after seeing the tv show on PBS and really liking the theory behind this method. After using it with much success, I even got my father hooked. He was raised on a farm and is a life-long gardener and also finds Square Foot Gardening to be an indispensable gardening reference.

The method of gardening in this book is totally different than what you'll find in other gardening books. It is based on the idea that you will have the most success by gardening one square foot at a time. Your garden, no matter what size, is divided up into squares and you treat each of those squares as a little garden all by itself. This is wonderful for beginners because it lets you start on a very small scale without being overwhelmed. For more experienced gardeners, this is a way to improve your yields and cut down on your work. The results of Square Foot Gardening speak for themselves. You will find you will spend less time weeding and more picking vegetables. It's an almost foolproof method.

The book itself is easy to read and understand. The method is explained in full along with pictures and illustrations. There are plenty of tips and tricks as well as some basic gardening instruction. You don't have to be an expert by any means to use this book. Something I really like is that there are comparisons between the square foot method and more traditional ways of gardening. Rather than just being instructed on how to do it, you learn why it's the best way. I highly recommend this book. It will change the way you garden.
