No, *I* am Spartacus! SPARTACUS
Pros: Intelligent, insightful, epic, adventure and drama. Broke the Blacklist. Cons: Historical inaccuracies, and "modern" hairstyles. Bottom Line: A Superior Epic: Spartacus
Pros: Brilliant Acting, Direction, Score, and Cinematography Cons: None worth mentioning Bottom Line: A Politicized and Politicizing Movie
Pros: heartbreaking Cons: dialogue, historical inaccuracies Bottom Line: Spartacus (1960): Freedom Is Costly, But Freedom Is The Highest Earthly Aspiration
Pros: Inspiring. Cons: Longish. Bottom Line: In SPARTACUS, Men See Themselves.
Pros: Epic set pieces, generally well handled quieter scenes, classic Alex North score. Cons: The dialogue suffers at times from the Hollywood "Biblical" tradition. Bottom Line: Its Not Kubrickian, But It Is Kubrick
Pros: A stunning cast delivering uniformly great performances, emotionally honest relationships and historical accuracy and detail. Cons: By modern standards, the battle scenes are fairly weak. Bottom Line: Tied with "Sand Pebbles" for best American war movie of the '60's.
Pros: Action, politics, characters transcending what they thought were their limits. Cons: Could have benefitted through the addition of plebian characters (neither slaves nor patricians) Bottom Line: Spartacus a Movie for all Time
