Nice, VERY portable subnotebook

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Excellent size, weight, portability, has DVD/CD-RW and all internet connection possibilities (incl wireless)

Cons: Expensive; pain in the neck to make 9 recovery discs (not included w/computer)

The Bottom Line:
Give it a shot, especially if you can get a good deal on the price.

I love everything about this computer except all the time it took to make the 9 CD recovery discs.

I lucked out on my TR2A -- I was at Circuit City and saw one on sale as an open box item, the last in the store. It had been marked down to $1650 from the original $1950. I played around with it for quite a while and it worked fine. I decided you don't get anything in life unless you ask for it, so I asked a salesperson if he'd accept $1200 for the TR2A. After he finished laughing and I was walking away, he said he'd go talk to the manager. He came back a few minutes later with the manager, who checked out Circuit City's base price info on their store computer. Told me he'd let me buy it for $1450. I told him it was still too high and started walking. Next thing I know it was down to $1399. I decided not to push my luck past that point and pulled out the credit card (after all, that's $700 off Sony's list price, and $250 off Circuit City's already-low open box price). When I was leaving, several salespeople stopped me and told me they'd heard about the deal I made and were jealous they hadn't thought of it themselves, since they liked the TR2A so much :-))

The TR2A beats out the Fujitsu Lifebook P2120 (which I liked, but the 2120 has an awful half-size "Enter" key that's almost impossible to hit no matter how long you train yourself to use it)
