Author's Review
I bought this camera back in July from an internet I guess a Sony dealer. That was a mistake, but not a mistake purchasing the camera. For every picture that I used the camera to provide me with sharp, full color images, the T9 did everything I wanted it to do. WIth my previous expirience having Pentax Optio 50, also a very good camera, except for the fact that the lens broke inside, (after my investiation, i concluded that it came off the track, don't ask how) just about 10 days after the manufacturer's warranty expired. In reserve with plenty of time to do research before I buy my next camera, and talking to professionals, they recommended me to look into bigger brands such as Sony, Nikon, and Canon. All of the cameras I tested were excellent. Nikon had a lot of beyond the limit feautures that made it easier to use, and perhaps to stand out when it comes to marketing. However, purchasing Sony notebook and being completely satisfied with it, I decided to continue my journey into Sony world and purchased T9.
Enough said, T9 is a perfect camera for begginners, intermediate and perhaps even a "lazy" proffessional who no longer wants to adjust the lenses in SLR. The camera basically knows the picture that you plan to take before you get and idea yourself. The lenses are very fast to react to light changes or weather conditions. My camera has been in pouring rain, hot burning sun, clouds and everything you could imagine, yet didn't hurt the picture.
One of the best feautures I am in pleasure with is the ability to take photos in pure or almost pure light free conditions. IT was capable of taking photos at things I was barely able to see with its night option.
The very sleek design makes it stand out very well in front of older "brick" cameras and the ability to fit into your jeans pocket and not knowing it after fitting it there is a big plus.
Very very durable chasis is an extreme benefit. Since my cameras take flying lessons, it is important for me to know which one will pass. Sony experienced many different altitutes with the same amount of gravity including free fall from the hood of the truck, top shelve of the store, landing itself into a puddle after parachute free fall and many more falls that I am unaware off. Regardless, the camera still works and in fact, didn't even show much damage. The corners were scratched little bit and little scratch on LCD, but having internal lense is a benefit in such case.
This camera has many options that to this day I am having difficulty knowing which to use when. If you are beginner, dont worry, the camera has an automatic option which will do everything just fine, with its ability to adjust quickly to the scenario you want to capture.
The biggest benefit of this camera for most people including myself is a shutter lag time and starting time. Since all you have to do is pull the lense cover down and within 1 second the camera is already adjusted. I bet that is faster than you can point the camera to the object you want to picture. That was a big benefit for me when I used it to snap images that went buy quickly. Image stabilization is also a huge +. There is no better feeling when you snapped an object while passing by it at 50 mph and still have a perfectly clear image.
At last, best of all compared to my previous camera-THE BATTERY LIFE. I could not wish for a better battery life than this one. I could fill my whole 512 MB duo card before the battery needed to go back on charger. That is more than sony predicted.
after all of that description, it is a best choice that I made buying my canera. It has all the features someone semi-SLR pro could wish for. In fact this camera is a semi-SLR, or it sure feels like it.
There is always someone who can disagree with me, and not every camera is designed for every person, but if you are looking for an everyday use pictures, maybe play with them in photoshop cs 2, this is the camera for that. With price being very reasonable, it is a choice I would recommend!
