Pros: Compact setup, decent sounding in a small space.
Cons: Poor quality - should not have the Sony logo.
I purchased this unit last year to put in my basement I was finishing. Unfortunately, I let it sit unused for months until I finally had a place to put it, only to have the video input go out several weeks later, and the composite-out turn to black and white a week after that. I probably don't have 20 hours of viewing time on it, and it appears to be melting down. Searching the net, I have found plenty of other poor reviews regarding DVD malfunctions, and I suppose I get to look forward to that if I don't chuck it first. Since the warranty is already up, I don't think it's worth the cost and bother to ship it off for repairs. I hate to say it, but Sony really dropped the ball on this unit. I noticed that Best Buy, where I purchased it, no longer carries it, or any of the other DAV series (with the exception of the $1999 DAV-FL1) - if that tells you anything!
