Surprising quality

Pros: Size, sensitivity, no battery required.
Cons: Can pick up mechanism noise.
I use one of these with a hi-md minidisc. It is very sensitive and can pick up anything from voice to wind bands.
Of course, it does not give great stereo separation and there are higher quality microphones available, but it is small and easy to carry around.
If you use one with a minidisc be careful; it can record the clicking of the mechanism as it is plugged into the body of the device directly.
