Purchasing an extended warranty.

I personally pay the extra $20 at the store I purchase my system from for an extended warranty (1 year} that will cover ANY damage to the system without limitation. This applies to all GameStop, Ebgames, and Babbage’s (now all the same company). If you were to use this warranty your system is replaced with a new system and again you can purchase another warranty for that system. It is much easier to deal with a local merchant than a long distance Sony company.

My Experience with my system.

Comparing the Sony Playstation 2 and Sony Playstation 2 Slimline the only difference is the size, weight and of course the much lowered price. I was amazed at the durability considering how light weight it is. I traded in my older Playstation 2 specifically for the Slimline, because I own many systems and needed the space. At first I was apprehensive thinking this is a flimsy piece of equipment will not hold up. The spring loaded disc holder reminded me of the old portable cd player that opened with a one finger press then it would flip open. I was wrong, it works perfectly.

This system is easy to setup with two ports for controllers, two memory ports, audio/video/sound cables are color coded another easy part of the setup for novice players. Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port and modem port for online play.

What I love about the system is the durability, graphics, and non interrupted game play. Since the release of the newer systems it is easy to find the less expensive, yet awesome games for one and two players. I would suggest anyone starting out to purchase Playstation 2 Slimline. I have had the system for two years without any problems. My system has not skipped, overheated, nor had any problems reading both Playstation and Playstation 2 games.

CD and DVD playback

CD playback is great and I have not experienced any problems listening to my music while I clean the house. My favorite music is Soundscapes and Yanni both sound awesome though the machine.

I have only watched one DVD though my system and did not have any apparent problems, but the thought did cross my mind that this is not why I purchased the system. I can understand the complaints I have heard from others about over heating and skipping. The machine is a gaming machine, yes it has the capability to playback both CD and DVD’s without problems. I feel if you use this machine as your entertainment center playing games, CD’s, and DVD’s you will shorten the lifespan of the gaming system itself thus causing problems with the different medias you are using.

Games I play

I enjoy the Castlevania series starting with the original Playstation game and working my way into the PS2 games. You can watch the graphic change as the system progresses. The PS2 offers a much better graphic than the first generation Playstation. I enjoy watching a story unfold so most of my games are in a series. Champions of Norrath series is also an excellent choice, as is Dungeons and Dragons Hero’s. Basically anything that has a chick hero in it is a game I want to play. The only exclusive chick slasher game is Primal a female hero comes to save the world with awesome story telling and graphics.

My husband enjoys the Tom Clancy series of games which are all first shooter games. Our tastes are different yet it is one thing we can both use for enjoyment without complaint, unless it is asking the question, “Are you done yet?”

I have put in several hours of game play, but I make sure to give my system a rest after a four hour session. It is very easy to get sucked into the game and lose your sense of time.
