Playstation 2

The console: The console is lightweight and versatile with the ability to place the system flat or on its side, (although playing the system on its side is, not recommended). The PS2 Slimline is backwards compatible allowing those who still have the PS1 game titles the ability to play them.

The Games: There are over 2400 games in the PS2 library ranging from action to racing and everything in between. Most PS2 games have very little loading time, if any and the games are some of the greatest titles ever which include: Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Need for speed: Underground 2, Midnight Club 3 Dub edition remix, Dark Cloud 1 and 2.

DVDs and CDs: Playstation 2 is capable of playing all of your favorite DVD movies with easy access DVD menu controls. A wireless PS2 DVD remote is available for sale. The system is also capable of playing music CDs.

Controllers: Playstation 2, generally speaking, comes with one wired-controller. However, you can obtain a wireless controller, or two depending on your needs.

Memory and game saves: The Playstation 2 requires the use of Memory cards in order to store game saves. Commonly, a person can obtain an 8-megabyte memory card. However, 32MB Memory cards are now available.

Graphics and Hardware: 256x224 to 1280x1024 pixels with a CPU running at 299 MHz and GPU clocked at 147 MHz allows for great graphics and continuous game play with frequent loading times.
Overall, the Playstation 2 Slimline is a great system with a huge library of games to choose from that is sure to please anyone from the avid gamer to casual gamer.

Sales: Over 74 Million Playstation 2 systems have been sold worldwide and it’s no wonder with such a great library of games, great graphics and is easy to maintain.

Recommendations for cleaning: Use a q-tip and alcohol and to clean the laser lens if you have any trouble with slowing load times. Sometimes, the laser lens will get a thin coating on it, especially if you smoke which will prevent the system from reading DVDs and PS2 games. Simply dip one end of the q-tip in the alcohol, gently wipe the laser lens then use the dry end of the q-tip and let the system sit for ten minutes and it will play like brand new in most cases. The original PS2, the bigger version made it nearly impossible to access the lens for proper cleaning but with the advent of the flip-open top on the Slimline version, cleaning is a snap. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to the lens, though. Gently rub the lens and avoid applying too much pressure. Also, be sure to keep the vents around the base of the Playstation 2 system free of dust. Once a month, cleaning maintenance will keep the system running perfectly.

Personal experience: To this day, I still enjoy using my Playstation 2. The Playstation 3 is no longer capable of playing PS2 and PS1 games so, I kept my PS2, and to this day, I still enjoy playing all of my favorite titles for the system. Although, my Playstation 2 Slimline is five years old, with preventative maintenance, it still works as if it were brand new. Truly, this system is worth more than I ever paid for it.
