Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVP-NC665P/B stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs through Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive de-interlacer (scanning) with 3:2 pulldown processing. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

Great Multi-Disc DVD Player

Pros: Great product and value - Reads every type of disc imaginable.
Cons: None that I can think of.
The Bottom Line:
Definitely recommend this for anyone seeking a multi-disc DVD/CD player, and needs compatibility for self-burned DVD, VCD, and MP3 CDs.
The 665 is a great product, and highly recommended. I needed to upgrade since my previous (approximately 2 year-old) single-disc Sony decided to stop playing DVDs mid-way through, and wouldn't play any of my video CD's burned with the software (ImageMixer) included with my Sony digital camera, with my Sony Vaio computer - nothing like brand compatibility!
I actually found that most DVD players and computer DVD players didn't play these video CDs, so was very excited that this plays video CDs, mp3 CDs, home-made DVDs, and of course standard DVD and CD discs.
It has the simultaneous play and exchange disc feature, which is quite handy for CD listening. It also changes discs quickly and with ease from one format to the next.
There is now a upgrade of the 665 (don't recall the style number), but I did not opt for it, as the only additional digital features are accounted for in my Sony receiver so not needed on the actual DVD player.
Also - I think that the previous reviewer who has a 665 from about 2.5 years ago has a slightly different model. It is the same number, and I'm told that nothing significant has changed - there may have been some previous bugs that have just been fixed. We bought the 665 for my sister-in-law just over a year ago, and it is slightly different in physical looks to the 665 out on the market now which we just purchased last month (November 2003).
