Sony DCR-TRV330 Camcorder

Pros: Picture quality; Options on LCD; IEEE1394; Price
Cons: Snapshot picture; difficulty of putting on/removing overhead light; battery runs out too quickly
The Bottom Line:
Recommended for picture quality, overall quality, price, and input/outputs to VHS or computer.
I think this camera is a great alternative to these "DV" camcorders out there, costing at least $900. I got my one for $550 at the time and am very pleased with it.
I use the Digital 8 mini tapes, record, then output into the computer and/or back onto a VHS tape - with ease.
The overall quality is excellent. The picture is excellent. The battery seems to run out very quickly, especially if the pull out LCD screen is used.
The quality of the snapshot picture onto a memory stick is terrible. In exceptionally good light, you might get a not so blurred picture. That's where I wish they had some of the "DV" camcorder technology.
Generally though, this is an excellent camcorder. The only difference I seen between this one and the TRV530 is the 530 has a larger LCD screen. For getting moments onto camcorder, it's a fairly inexpensive tool.
