Good product for the money, backwards compatibility is a great feature for former 8/HI8 users.
I bought this after much thought about going digital or just getting a cheap 8/HI8. I have a lot of old footage on HI8 tapes and wanted to be able to see it, as well as to be able to use my old tapes and save me some money. The camera has a lot of features and took a bit of time to go through them all to see what they do etc.
The battery doesn't last long enough 40 - 55 mins., but i got a deal on the accessory bag which came with an extra battery.
Loading the still images from the camcorder to PC is easy enough and there is software for video as well (need capture card however) Photo quality is not great, good enough to Email pics or to put on your website, which is my primary requirement.
The digital effects are pretty cool i must say.
Camera is small enough and not too heavy.
The video picture was excellent on my sony 43" TV. Color was very good.
Remote control comes in handy when watching it from the Cam.
