Paying a little extra over Sony's competition for much better video quality

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Great vivid, clear video quality. Good feel. Great screen.

Cons: Little larger than I would prefer.

The Bottom Line:
Extra cost of Sony over its competitors is well worth it - great video quality.

After buying and subsequently returning various other video cameras, I finally ended up with the Sony TRV27 and am extremely happy with it. Although I had to pay a bit of a premium over Sony's lower-priced competition, the video quality it offers is second to none.

The ability for the Sony to compensate for slightly jittery hands is great. The net result is fantastic quality videos.
The display on the camera is large and bright - in fact I've been able to use it to show full videos to friends and family.

Initially I bought a Canon ZR40 which had a good small form factor but lackluster in video playback quality.

The only negative with the Sony is the size. Very manageable still, but would prefer something a little smaller.

In my opinion, the extra cost of a Sony over its competitors is well worth it. After all, who wants to spend hours video recording something where the colors are washed out?
