The Right Camera for Me

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: price, quality, ease of use, size

Cons: must use camera to charge the battery

The Bottom Line:
For the "average" family on a budget around $400.00 for a camcorder, I would definitely recommend this model.

Author's Review
I've used the TRV250 for five or six filming sessions so far and am very pleased with the results. This camera fits my needs and was within my budget. All shoots have been outside except for one and quality is fine for all. I feel that the outside shots were of very good quality actually. (had VHS-C before.) The camera is easy to use for basic operation right out of the box. The bottom loading tape doesn't bother me 'cause I'm typically moving around a little when I film and don't use a tripod. It's really easy to hook up to my TV through the red/white/yellow connections and show the family the results. I haven't connected to the PC yet through USB but plan to go firewire and try that out soon. The manual does cover multiple camera models but by using the table of contents to get to the area, it wasn't difficult to find the applicable write ups for the few things I've felt compelled to read about. Also for me, the size is great. I'm old enough to have had one of those 7 pound VHS recorders back in the day. If this were much smaller I would probably lose it. If I have a negative it would be that my camera didn't come with a separate charger and so charging must be done by using the camera. Other than that, in the $400.00 range, this camera really fits the bill for my needs of filming family events (my kids in sports, my kids in dance competitions, my kids in concerts, my kids cheerleading, my kids being kids, etc..)
